Background:
The vision of the Mitigation Action Facility (formerly NAMA Facility) is to support the implementation of the Nationally Appropriate Mitigation Actions (NAMAs) and to induce transformational change towards a low-carbon development pathway. Current sectoral policies and technical standards are mainly characterized by the improvement of waste treatment facilities possible synergies that lie in combining different MSW treatment facilities are not taken into consideration. As a result, the integrated waste management (IWM) and GHG emission reduction potential in the sector has not yet been fully utilized. The Mitigation Action project will accelerate the low-carbon development of India’s waste sector through various actions taken by GIZ India to the central and selected state governments.
GIZ under the Mitigation Facility funded NAMA-Waste Solutions for a Circular Economy in India project, is supporting Patna Municipal Corporation (PMC) in implementing low-carbon Waste management solutions through Grant Support, technical assistance, and enabling of the Private sector. The project is working in Patna and supporting the PMC in promoting low-carbon waste solutions by initiating a composting programme in the 50 schools/colleges, RWA, hospitals, or other Bulk Waste Generator (BWG) institutions of Patna. This initiative will not only help in promoting solid waste management through source segregation and composting but also help in promoting low-carbon waste management solutions.
Tasks of the assignment:
1. Work package 1: Identification and Preparation of an Intervention Plan for schools/colleges, RWAS, hospitals, or other BWG institutions.
2. Work package 2: Capacity building and training sessions for students in schools/colleges and housekeeping staff in RWAs, hospitals, or other BWG institutions.
3. Work package 3: Installation of 50 composting units
4. Work package 4: Hand-holding support for installed composting units
